Ok, so I am looking to get an electronic drum set so I can do recording with drums in my apartment.

Up until now I have just been using the drum machine in Logic (UltraBeat) and playing drums on my keyboard or just creating beats with the piano roll editor.

The thing is, all the ones I have found from searching have sound modules included with drum sounds built in. This is a feature I do not need, as I would just be using the built in synth.

So my question is, does anyone know where I can find a drum kit MIDI controller that just has the pads and a MIDI in/out for sending the information to my DAW?

Thanks in advance

It has been a while since I looked.
Many years ago there was DrumKat controllers.
Exactly what you were looking for; a playing surface with midi out.
There was also the Roland Octa-Pad, a very similar device with (8) 4 by 5 pads.
They are not made any more, but I still have one.
There are also trigger to midi convertors where you can make your own triggers and plug them into the converter which produces a midi note and velocity info.

I was looking for something that is set up like a drum kit, not a pad. There are surfaces like that for not too much, I guess I can get one of those if I cannot find a "kit" style controller.

EDIT: Does anyone think the Ion audio Studio Session kit, could be converted to having a MIDI out rather than a USB out? (sorry, it would not let me do URL tags until I have 5 posts, please google it)
