I used to be able to do this, for some reason it's not working right now.

I have a drum track on channel 10. I wan't to split this isto many channels such that cymbals. snare, foot etc can be played in different channels.

I highlited channel 10 and then selected "Run Cal" from the EDIT menu. I chose "Split channel to tracks" and entered "track 1" in the FIRST DESTINATION TRACK dialog box.

For some reason it does not split the channels correctly. It does create many tracks, but the drum notes are not split. they remain on channel 10.

Can someone help?

I could be wrong, but I think that's how it's actually supposed to work. It just splits the track apart so that each note goes to its own separate track. But, each of those tracks will still be on Channel 10 - otherwise, you wouldn't hear them as drum sounds anymore (unless you had some funky setup). Now, I think the idea is that you can send each different track to a different (or same) DXi or Soundfont audio track, and then you can tweak panning and effects individually for each different piece of your virtual drum kit.

Ah...so I won't be able to see the individual tracks seperately?

I am routing the drum track to a DAW. So I should still be able to adjust them individually then.

Why does the track spilit into 10 tracks and not 5 or any number I want?

Thanks.

Uhh.. of course you should. If they have been split to tracks, they are in separate tracks...

There should be on track for each note (that is, each piece of the drum kit) that was used in the track.

Thanks Alchuck.
I can see the multiple tracks which are auto created. But the tracks are empty. Nothing in them. Only the original track 10 has notes in them.

Thanks

Did you select all the events in the track before running the CAL command?

I am embarraased to say that I was using the wrong CAL file. Sorry for the inconvenience.
It works fine now. Thanks for the support.
