Hi,
We've got a Marshall DRP-1 direct recording pre-amp, and I have connected the loop send of the peavey amp into the input of the DRP-1 and then out of the line out of the DRP-1 to the mixer.
Now this has worked fine before, but today it randomly went all weird, the signal turned really weak, the sound sounded all squashed, and it distorted alot. Has something inside just broke? it's not the amp, or the mixer, so has something screwed up in the DRP-1, or is there some dial that can cause this, anyone have any ideas whats happened?

Unhook all the cables, and hook them back up. This cures a good 25% of all audio problems.

I forgot to mention this is a bass guitar and therefore bass amp going into the DRP-1, I'm not sure if it was meant for bass amps, but its worked before. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

No luck with new cables, or plugging/unplugging? (This can help clean a dirty jack, which can cause the symptoms you describe)

I haven't been able to try it sorry, it's the bassist in my bands guitar, not mine so I hav'nt got access to it. I am just trying to get a list of things to try when we next try it. So far I've got try different cables, is that the only thing that could be causing this?

thanks for all the help. :D

It could be something wrong, but when you troubleshoot, sometimes it pays to check the simplest things first.

So- first I would check the cables. Second, I would put the guitar amp back in the chain, to see if the problem is the DRP, or the signal from the bass amp. The bass amp is the new factor in the chain. Another thing to check early on.

People rarely use the line outs on amps, they are usually suspect. Get some Deoxit and clean them, and try again.

Then wonder if something else is wrong.
