Is it possible to use drivers that don't come with a sound card?
I want the lynx one, but it doesn't have asio1 or asio2 and I need these for my software, what can I do?

when i was playing around with the reason software a while back i used asio drivers from a cubase demo and got better results than with the asio drivers available from my soundcard manufacturer...i'm guessing that this was because the cubase driver was asio 2 while my soundcard's weren't ..if a card supports asio, you will eventually find or get the drivers you need for your software...

sorry...don't understand.

So you don't have to have a driver on a soundcard to use a program that needs that driver. This just doesn't make sense, how did you get an Asio driver with cubase, I thought that's what you needed to use it. If I wanted ASIO 2 could I just buy it or what? Would it come with Cubase? This info would help, I understand what your saying I just can't grasp it...?

question???

So, J, does it mean that is better to use some other ASIO drivers instead of these I got in my Aardvark card package?

Does Cubase has a better Asio drivers?

Thanx

Funky,

i think aardvark has pretty good asio support and they update their drivers. first thing is to make sure you have the latest aardvark drivers. however, if you install a cubase demo (you want the latest) and you are using something else to sequence (like reason) you may have more options for which asio you want to use. for example, when i installed the cubase demo, new asio drivers appeared in the driver selection box in reason. at the time, the asio drivers from the cubase demo seemed to work better than any of the other options. i'm not recomending this type of thing...but at least it is possible in some cases.

PRiZ,

i thought you had concerns about the lynx one and asio. you said in another thread that the lynx site says that the lynx one will support asio. if this is the case, i would think that you should be able to find the drivers you need . most sound cards have asio support these days....so you should be able to use asio software...however, if the manufacturer doesn't have satisfactory asio support for your software , you might try installing a cubase demo and loading those drivers....of course this doesn't mean that you can use just any driver with any soundcard...if you are using asio drivers for your software i think that you at least have to have a sound card that supports asio..
