DR-680 digital out Problem

That should have read Digital In Problem. I finally got my hands on a wonderful Grace Luntec V3 mic preamp with a digital out. I have the 680 set correctly yet the digital signal from the Grace is not getting through. I do get a DIN unlock window refreshing when I unplug and replug in the digital cable. That tells me that something is trying to work. However, that signal inputs just fine into My Tascam US-2000. So, I know that the signal is there.

What could I be doing wrong? Is this a possible problem with the 680?

I have the same problem with my Audient Mico digitally into DR-680. As I got the DR-680 work with TC Electronic Impact Twin at 96/24 with no problems at all it must be the communication that is not happening.

Interestingly one can switchcthe output of the DR-680 between SPDIF and AES, but not the input. I do a lot of research how to solve this disappointing problem. Audient, when asked, didn't present any solution.

They say, their digital out has SPDIF professional protocoll sending out a bit that can't be digested by consumer SPDIF inputs??? I wonder wehy they cant filter out that naughty bit...

Did you find a solution meanwhile?
