ear art's not a science
I just got a roland DR-5 and its pretty neat for rhythms I can output the audio into sonar with no problems But there is some kind of wierd thing going on with the midi. Ive got a creative audigy card, sonar 2.
Ok heres what Ive got so far If I input the midi to Sonar from the
dr-5 the sound is all jumbled up and the instruments are totally wrong.

But if I select a soundfont OR a patch (AFTER) the dr-5 is already
playing the track it clears up perfectly,,, that is until I stop in which case ,I have to change the soundfont or patch again to clear it up. I'm
still stumped here. Why doesnt the patch selection stay for that input? Its probably something simple Im missing or not configuring.
Surely someone else has had this problem

thanks for your help in advance

this helped

well guys, I figured out something that did allow me to get midi in to sonar from the dr5. I found that if I used drum kits 40-47 I did not have this problem. I also found that if I went into the midi configuration on the dr5 and shut something called (program) off the tracks would retain the soundfont which I changed it to enabling me to use any kits I desired. I put together my first practice recording using the dr5 and I think it has helped a bunch. Im just getting started with programming it so its pretty basic I called it the WEATHER CHANNEL LOCAL FORECAST. check it out at , its just a quick throw together but I could use some of those supersonic ears

and let me know what you think of the overall sound quality. I think I overdrove the final mix just a bit bu a quik edit in console view should correct that.

Are you still out there?

I have been completely unsuccsessful getting my DR-5 to work with Fruity Loops.

Guess I will check into some of your observations...it has been a while so I don't remember if I tried all your tricks. If you have any other usefull tips let me know. :D
