DP01FX - recording a drum machine?

Stupid question maybe, or perhaps not. The book says a drum machine cannot be recorded on the unit itself, but can be output. I am not sure I understand. How am I supposed to record the drum machine? I do not plan on recording on a stereo system...I am exporting directly to my computer.
 
Just run the outputs of the DM to the line inputs of the DP set the levels and record.
