DP-24 lack of scenes - are fader/pan/eq/fx settings saved?

I am thinking of buying a DP-24 or DP-32 but the lack of scenes may be a problem for me. I have read the manual/s and searched online about this, but to no avail.

What I would like to know is whether or not all eq, pan, fx, fader settings for a song are saved with the song and then restored with the song when loaded again.

Here is a working example of what I am asking: let's say I have been mixing a song, and decided to work on another. Can I save the current song, load another, work on that, save it, and then load in the first song and carry on where I left off, with all the eq, pan, fx and fader settings restored? On my 2488 Neo, I use scenes to do this.

BTW, I realise the faders and controls are not motorised! I am referring to internal settings - where the faders are concerned, there is a screen where fader levels can be seen, according to the manual.

Many thanks to any help anyone can give,

CDA.

the desk should keep your settings saved with the song, but lack of scenes was a major blow to me, too - so i did all that stuff via MIDI, getting Sonar (pc midi sequencer) to send my DP-32 the controller values to set up my inital mix for me, then after that i record my additional adjustments in real time, giving me a form of automix

yes it's a little longwinded but it's easier than writing everything down on a track sheet and poking it all in manually every time

Thanks for your reply. I would never have thought of automating the settings that way. I assume this can be done with hardware sequencers/workstations as well as computers? I have no computer in my studio and want to try it on the Neo.

I don't understand the thinking in leaving scenes out on the DP-24.

yeah, ditto with the DP-32 - i didn't confirm Scenes were included with the unit simply because it was unthinkable that it wouldn't include them... same for a pitch control. i have a very nasty cantankerous Jem guitar, and my upper vox range seems to always be one semitone too low - so yeah, i need a pitch control. and the input dynamics - i loved the exciter, but if i can only compress during recording(!) then that means nothing can be used except the compressors.

my DP-32 lives in its box on top of a cupboard. it lasted one week before being canned. i bought a second Yamaha AW-16G to go alongside my original one, and together they give me everything the DP-32 didn't, except for the SD card convenience. i can live with that.

as long as you have some way of sending a CC controller on a particular midi channel, then yes you can. if you don't understand reading a midi implementation chart, then post back here and i'll write up the controller numbers along with their names and effective ranges for you

Thanks very much for your reply. I am pretty up on MIDI, but if I have any problems I will take you up on your offer of help.

As for the DP-24...no pitch control either? I was aware of the limitations of the dynamics and fx, but this is a loss too far. I suppose it must be tricky to do that with SD cards or something. But still, I think it is off my shopping list.

The AW16g is a good machine. I have two as well and thought that going to a Neo was an upgrade. I do not think this now. I kind of swap between the two now.
