Double mic question...

I`m a huge fan of bands from the 70`s and very often I see the vocalist sing with double mikes, "the mikes are taped together".

Whats that all about, is one of em delayed so it will sound like stereo vox or what?

Ps I`m talking about live appereances.

Are you talking about the dead when they are live. If so one of the mics is out of phase to cut down on stage volume in the vocal mic.
