What kind of doors should I be using for my control room? Hollow core, solid core, birch, oak, steel, panels......AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!

There's so many different friggin doors at the building center I don't have a friggin clue!!!

It'll be a double door too, if that helps at all.

Thanks

Use the highest quality door you can afford.
Preferably a solid core of Oak, Alder, Pine, or some other fairly non-resonate hard wood.
Or, you can choose to use sliders. (That's what I'm doing) Again, use a high quality, exterior grade, double pane, tempered glass, well insulated door. It helps if the 2 panes are of different thicknesses too, and using 2 doors in a double wall type construction wont hurt a bit.

I'm going to post an update of my studio soon, at John's site, but here's a teaser:

You'll get a better fit and finish by going to a local supplier that deals in doors only.

Another good idea is to get a pre-hung EXTERIOR pair and frame. The door frame will be pre-kerfed and have weatherstripping already installed.

You're probably looking at about $350- $400US for a setup like that. Depends on if you just want a paint grade or a nice veneer.

But it will be cut, mortised, and drilled for your lockset and ready to hang.
Yeah, prehung doors are the way to go!
But for a double - prehung door, double your estimate. It'll cost around $800. And if you want a CUSTOM, double, solid wood, prehung door, it gets REAL expensive. My front studio door was around $1800.

That's a little pricey for my liking and for what it's for. I think if I get a couple of solid oak doors me and my pops can get the job done.

Your studio looks tight Michael.
