Hi all

I want to start my voice over but not pretty sure about the type of mic to buy. I don't have lots of isolation in the room I 'll using for the recording. Some one adviced me the sennheier recorder. Please help !

Start off with a Rode NT1.

A lot of mic for not much money.

IMHO if you can only afford one mic to start with get a Small Diaphragm Capacitor (aka "condenser" to the Victorians here) Get one if at all possible with a 20dB pad switch. The mic will then have the low sensitivity needed for close talking and thus room "rejection" but can have high sensitivity and low noise for duty such as acoustic guitar.

Google "AKG P170 (tho' I think they have actually ceased production)

Dave.

I'm going to take an educated guess that meriamis may not have an interface and may not know that both the suggested mics would need phantom power. I don't know of a 'Sennheiser recorder', so at a guess thinking he/she meant Sennheiser microphone which likely would be a dynamic mic which may have been suggested for an untreated room.

If meriamis does return, hopefully can give some more information as to the budget $$$ for a microphone and interface if one is needed. Also may be helpful to know what the 'voice over' is intended for. Depending on the use, a USB mic might be adequate, either a dynamic or a condenser if he budget is low.

IMO the Rode M3 is the best bang-for-buck small diaphragm condenser mic out there...
Very cheap, very useful.
