I volunteered to write an article on how to assemble a very basic recording set-up for songwriters. The problem is that I have spent a lot of $$$ on my set-up and the idea is to put this together on a shoestring budget using freeware, so trying to emulate my set-up is out.
The set-up is for a Windows computer and needs to be something that uses as much freeware as possible. The track count should be at least four to eight and it would be nice if it had VST plugin capability so that the user could insert a reverb, etc.
If anyone has any links to anything that could help, please let me know. I already checked out Protools Free and Quartz Audio Master. Neither of which has VST capability.
Also, if you have any idea of the learning curve, that would be great if you would comment.
Thanks in advance.
