okok...so its nothing spectaculor.. but its my first offsite project.. no im not getting paid.. im doing it to get some experience under my wing..
its a simple dj project.. i click record in vegas..the dj mixes his records for about an hour.. then i burn it onto cd.. sounds simple right ? well..i have some questions.
first..i ran a test with my machine.. i recorded 8 simaltaneous tracks from the radio for an hour with my compaq and it worked like a charm.. so..one track for an hour wont be a problem...
question 1) ok..so i know that vinyl pretty much sucks .. and that it has trouble with low and high frequencies (as well as dynamic range).. so , after recording i should add a touch of eq on the low end and high and to make it shine a bit better right ? im not worried about clicks and pops because this is a very expensive dj set up...
question 2) how would i go about getting my cd-r to make all the songs on seperate tracks with no gaps so it flows ? my plan is this :
break the one large track into seperate tracks , disable the 2 second gap in my burning software , then line the tracks up then burn and hope for the best..
sound good ?
question 3) normalizing the files before burning them on the disc isnt a good idea right ? itll make a notice able difference in the flow right ? sure it will normalize all the tracks to .5 db but the peaks in certain songs will be different , and if it raises one track by .4 db's will it be notice able since the gaps are eliminated ?
since everything is being recorded from the same source at once , just broken up into seperate tracks , theres no reason to normalize before burning onto cd anyway right ? just normalize the one big wav file before breaking it into tracks right ?
damn..i said "right?" about 40 times in there..
well anyway..im just looking for a little advice.. or just tell me what i said "sounds good" ..even if you didnt get a word i said..
ps..one thing that i have to my advantage is that when i burn audio to a cd-rw disc my cd-rom recognizes it as an audio cd.. so i can experiment and then erase the disc and do it over again if it doesnt work with out wasting cd-rs.. ill try that tonight before bed...
