I've got a 10 by 17 foot room. I acidentally put 14 where I was supposed to put 17.

And am going to organize the room for my studio. I need to know the best place to put my monitors/ workplace. Is this the best way?

It's either that for trying to put the stuff up against the 17 foot wall. Which is the best, accoustically speaking?

It looks fine the way it is. But make sure you treat the sweet spots. Dampen the rear wall so the listener/room does not encounter any flutters or echoes.

Yes, what you have is good, but you should set up so your ears are about 38 percent of the way back from the front wall. The drawing below is from an article on my company's web site, and it shows exactly what you are asking.
