Does the Tascam 2488 NEO have a noisy hard drive??

Im just wondering if the hard drive on the NEO is noisless like on my DP-02 before i make the plunge into buying one?? Also is it true that most if not all of them have 160 GB hard drive instead of the advertized(on e-bay at least) 40-80?? Some people on e-bay are saying that Tascam packed a flyer inside the boxes(after a few were already out there) that says they are 160 GB now?!?! ANYBODY KNOW???:o
 
Noisy hard drive is why I went with the Boss BR600 initially. Of course in hind sight, I should have saved my money and got a new computer and gone that route (which I'm now on anyway, trying to sell the Boss on Ebay!)
I can't tell you specifically about the Tascam, except that ALL hard drives make noise, just some are better insulated or less noisy than others.

I don't know if you had any success transferring your files (from your partitioning thread), but if you did, you'll be able to find out what size the hdd is by looking at its properties.

Here's a guide for replacing the drive. Looks pretty easy.

OK I've had my NEO for like 6 weeks now and the thing is quiet as a mouse !! :guitar:

Dude! My pre-Neo 2488 doesn't make any noise. It's so quiet that if I hadn't gotten talked into this Presonus Firewire thingie, I'd still be using it.

That said....I've got a barely used (2 hours or so) Tascam 2488 for sale! ;)
