does someone here have a mp3 sample of a drum recording that features a studio projects c1 mic as an overhead? i was thinking of buy 2 for overheads? would thay be good?

well, i posted a tread at the microphone form and almost 90% of the replys that i got back told me that the c1000's where a very bad mic. i also posted a tread at the microphone form asking how well does a c1 work on overheads and they tolled me that it was very good. why is the c1 not a good overhead mic????

C-1000's are not a bad mic at all. Not my favorite for overheads but I've used them for that for years. I like the 1000's on toms over SM-57's but that's just my opinion.

I saw that thread in the mic forum, and participated in it. I don't think anyone said the c1000s was bad, just that you can do better. If budget is a consideration, and even if it isn't, you can't go wrong with the MXL603 as overheads.
I've used both the 603 and the C1000s. While the c1000s is OK, I can't imagine why anyone would chose one over a 603 for a general purpose overhead mic, especially when they cost so much more.
