I am fairly new at this recording business and was wondering what would be a reasonable deal for studio foam? I am not to sure what to get when it comes to all of these shapes and sizes. I am leaning towards the pyramid shape, but I am not to sure if that is the best for the studio I want to build. Thanks

Welcome to the board. The shape of the foam only matters if you like the look of it because it does nothing for sound. Well, it will suck up the highs. Search fiberglass, owens 703, absorption panels. Look up real traps. There is a ton of great info on this board about sound. Grab your favorite drink and be ready to read and learn. Good luck.

If, after reading Zbert's post, you still think foam is what you want, just make sure whatever you get has a fire rating. A lot of the supposedly acoustic foam is not fire rated and can be hazardous to your health in case of a fire.

Otherwise, the best bang for the buck for acoustic treatment is, as Z said, rigid fiberglass (commonly referred to as Owens Corning 703 but available from other manufacturers as well).
