Does Roxio Easy Media just suck? Or.....

Does that all depend on my soundcard. i've been using it and its my first time ever trying to convert tape into a digital stereo file and theres ample crackle and alot of clipping. And the end result is just overall bad sounding i guess. What can i do to remedy this? any help would be good.

Are you sure you're not overloading the input and causing digital distortion? Do you have the same problem when lowering the output level of your tape machine/mixer?

Also, if the level isn't the issue, I wouldn't blame the software. There are a number of causes for the pops/clicks etc., and it has to do with your computer's hardware capability and configuration.

This probably belongs in a different forum if you want to troubleshoot, but what kind of soundcard and what are the hardware specs of your computer?
 
A friend called me yesterday talking about Audio Grabber, easy to use and good result transfer files, maybe try that instead ?:)
