does my sound card effect my quality

iv'e recently got my protools and m box up and runnig on my new computer but my cumputer sounds horrible, way to high. my recording sound great when im in the program or when i burn a track and bring it to the a stereo. does my sound card play a role at all for my application?

If the M-box is an interface, then that should be your default soundcard for recording/playback.

It's not clear what you mean by 'way too high'.
