Is the signal to low with this mic, or is just my imagination ?

Is it only with the SM-57? It could be the jumper settings on the card.

What are you trying to record with the '57? I assume you are plugging the mic into the XLR input. As mentioned, the XLR's are configurable as either mic or line level. You need to double check the jumper settings on the card. See your manual for details.

the jumpers are set to "mic level".

the recording level is the to the max.

I'm playing guitar about 10'' away from the mic and i get about -9db signal.

Acoustic guitar, I assume. -9dB is a perfectly fine level. Dynamic mics do not have very much output voltage. I doubt that your card's preamp has a lot of gain either, probably 45dB or so max. To get anything more, you will need to use another preamp that has more gain, or a hotter mic.

I use to record my snare with the same config, it was too hot for me, I need to set the gains to unity. It all depends on the source.
