I suppose your text file looks something like this:

; ----------------------------------------------------------------------

.Patch Names

[ANALOG1.DX7]
0=1 DX1 LEAD B
1=2 SO*LOW! #1
2=3 ANALOG
3=4 LEADSYN 1
4=5 LEADSYN 2
5=6 LEADSYN 3
6=7 LEADSYN 4
7=8 ANLGSYN 1
8=9 ANLGSYN 4
9=10 PERCSYN 1
10=11 PERCSYN 2
11=12 PERCSYN 3
12=13 PERCSYN 4
13=14 MC-MM 5-3
14=15 MELLOWSOLO
15=16 LEMONADE 1
16=17 SYN-TOUCH
17=18 PRC SYNTH1
18=19 SYN-LEAD 1
19=20 { Mooger }
20=21 Anna Logue
21=22 Prophet 8

and so on... (this is not the Korg Karma instrument definition file)

If the file has an .txt ending... just rename it to "whatever.ins".

In Sonar click Options -> Midi Instruments -> Define... -> Import and select your file. Click "Close". Then you have to define what MIDI channels you want to use with your Korg Karma. Select the channel (left side) and link it to Korg Karma (right side).

And that should be it...

it doesn't work it says these files don't contain instrument defintions

Can you post again and include the instrument definition file? I can check it out and report back to you....

I was wondering where I might find the instrument definitions for my rs 7000. I'm trying to dump my tracks via midi into sonar without using audio files. Can you help? Thx
