Hi,

i just need some 2nd opinions on what im gonna get to build a computer.

i have a roland vs 1680 and cool edit pro.....................

what im thinkin about getting.............................

Athlon XP 2000+
512MB DDR RAM
ABIT KX&-333 MOBO
ATI RADEON 8500LE 64MB
DELTA sound card
2x 80GB 7200RPM HD's

yea

sounds good, but make sure you get an Enermax Whisper quiet power supply, prolly about 430 watts, and get enermax case fans, or others that are really quiet. You can find ones rated around 19-21dba

Seems fine to me. I'd email M-Audio and ask if there any known issues with that mobo and its chipset. I'd also be a bit concerned using an ATi video card, but it seems they have finally got their drivers in working order, so you shouldn't have any trouble there.

Looks OK to me.

Just make sure if you use Windows XP that you have drivers for everything first.

The motherboard has a VIA chipset. M-Audio will likely advise against it. There have been issues between VIA chipsets and soundcards (not just M-audio) in the past.
However, the problems may be solved. But to be on the safe side, I'd choose a different motherboard.

For the most part,.. looks OK to me...

'cept for one thing...

Get a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 instead of the Radeon LE. Costs (about) the same, but much, much.... much faster.

And I'd recommend Maxtor D740X's for those 80GB HDDs.

Also,.. I have a VIA chipset board and have had no problems at all with my Delta card. VIA chipset issues are old news. If you were gonna get a KT133 chipset, I might advise against it, but KT266a and newer (i.e. 333) are fine.
