Does anyone have the Multimix 16 Firewire?

Hey. I'm getting the Multimix 16 Firewire for Christmas (I know it's already here, but my parents wanted to wait to get me something). I was wondering if anyone here has it. If so, tell me what the major benefits are, the good things, the bad things, etc. It'd be a major help.
 
its pretty cool..does not like my system the best yet, but no big complaints. Setup is the bitch..read the other postings here when setting up. Will help.
 
Have one setting in the closet it hates my laptop.. Or rather it HATES the Celeron processor in my laptop.. Was due to upgrade the laptop anyway.. Dell Pentium M 760 w/2Gb DDR, 60GB 7200RPM HD on the way..

If you're wanting it to record, it seems like it's gonna be the econimical way to go if you have a computer with the "UMPHH" to record multiple channels... You may find you want to upgrade from Cubase LE that comes packaged with it as it only allows for 4 channels recorded at one time.. If you'll never record more than 4 channels and don't intend on using it as JUST a mixer then this unit is overkill.. The Lexicon Omega would better suit you for less..

If you're just getting it as a unpowered mixer and have no intention of hooking up and recording with it, once again it's overkill...
 
Like all firewire devices, You need to check which Firewire cards/chipsets are recommended by the Manufacture

so not just any firewire card i buy from Newegg will work w/ it?
 
I would check and make sure. Usually something based on the TI chipset is reccomended
 
I know this thread I made is really old, but in a few months, hopefully by Thanksgiving (or Xmas again lol) I'll have my studio close to being up. I'm building my drum riser soon, and am going to start treating my room (acoustifoam, acoustiquilts, bass traps, etc) soon also, but the equipment will come later.

But in regards to the firewire card, what kinds will work? I will most definitely buy one from NewEgg, so which off that site will work?
