The fingertips on my left hand always stink after playing.

No, but they are usually bloody and look like hamburger meat from the 13's I use. bwahaha.

replace the factory strings, if thats what they are.

i play new guitars all day in my store, all with cheap dirty factory strings.

or maybe you are sweating.

Just tell your waitress you'll use a shotglass like everyone else.

Yea i think my hands sweat more than most people's. Smells kind of like holding change in your hands for too long/taking a shit and whiping your ass with your hands.

Are they nickel-wound? Some people are allergic to nickel and/or have skin oil composition that reacts badly with nickel. You might be one of them. If so, try a string with a non-reactive coating or a different composition.

You don't happen to use cheap toilet paper (the kind that your fingers pokes through) do you before playing?..  :D

I have habbit of sniffing my finger tips after touching things, especially after playing guitar. They smell horrible but I kind of like it now I don't know why.

I'm using Elixirs, I don't know but I think they're phosphor bronze. They've always stunk though even with nickel strings.

And you figured this out how?

Ok, the actuality of it is you are smelling the combination of sweat and dead skin, of which you'll find a lot on the tips of a guitartists fingers. Every time you play, you are rasping of some of that callous and reinforcing new callous tissue. It's the same reason you have to wash your sheets every week, although I suspect you should do it more often.

stinky hands

Yes I have smelled my hands after playing and it kinda smells like old mayo. I heard that this comes from playing with dirty oily hands. I read that Lemon Oil will clean and condition your fret board. Some of this theory and a new set of strings and playing with clean hands from now on should take the smell away. I am going to buy some next month. Good luck!
