Do you use 428?

<==== Very happy 428 user.

Goes well with the Sony Vaio 800mhz laptop and Cubase SX.

Used it on almost all of the songs linked off my website, if you want to hear it.

Works well. (shrug) No complaints. Love using the mix and transport controls, and the the EQ controls kicks butt, too.

Take care,
Chris

Of course! I wouldn't use it if not. :)

Kicks the pants of the old 4-track, but probably won't compete with the most recent Lucent outboard converters. :rolleyes:

For its price it sounds great. But, have a listen for yourself: don't trust my ears, eh?

Take care,
Chris

I have one as well. And I like it. But some people use it as a control surface and have a separate card for monitoring. And I was just curious how others liked the sound on the 428.:)

Hi again Chris. Bruce in Korea here. As I told you before, I have nearly the same laptop that you have (mines a tad more powerful). I still haven't gotten any sort of interface yet, and I've been wanting to get a US428 per your suggestion, but I've been seeing loads of very detailed complaints about it on the Tascam website. It seems that the US428 doesn't match well with the Sony VAIO when the latter is running Windows XP, which is what I have. Also, there seems to be some kind of downside to the VAIO's USB ports as well, though I confess I'm not very well up on the exact nature of the problems.

The bottom line is that these things are making me think twice about plunking down $500.00 for the US428. I don't want to deal with glitchy digital stuff. You, on the other hand, seem to have had few if any problems. What exactly are you doing with yours, and how are you running it (operating system)?

Thanks in advance.

Bruce, I am aware of one prob. with the 428 and xp. Alot of people have a problem with popping. But this is easily fixed with a certain windows messenger update. Is that what you were referring to? Otherwise I have no problems with mine. I'm using xp but it's not on a laptop...:)

i'm using the 428 with a dell inspiron running XP and i'm not having any problems.
