Anyone running a card sucessfully with a VIA APOLLO PRO chipset, could you be so kind to tell me which card you use (excluding consumer grade eg: SBLIVE etc) Thanx

I've got a Delta44 successfully running on my machine - which has the VIA Apollo Pro 133a chipset. It took a bit of system-tweaking to get it to record/playback without pops/skips - but it's working great now.

I have a Apollo Pro chipset with a Pentium 3 550E and a Delta44, it seems to work perfectly at 24b/48k but i get unbearable pops/clicks at 24b/96k.

pratt, how did you get it working?

im using a yamaha ds2416 on a KT133 chipset. I doubt the kt133 has any issues though, I haven't run into any in the limited amount of recording ive been able to do.

I'm using a Gadget Labs Wave 824 sound card in a system with a ASUS P3V4x motherboard. Uses the VIA Apollo Pro 133A chipset. Never had a problem. I should say that I record everything at 24/44.1. I also have about 40 machines at my (dayjob) company where I am in IT (no sound cards) and they have been very solid - I've become a fan of the chipset.

Only thing I recommend is keep an eye out for new VIA 4in1 drivers. That is the chipset driver package. When you install the 4in1 update it detects which exact chipset you have and installs the appropriate updates.

I think the latest version is 429.

You can download the drivers at:

das-

I should have said that I do most of my recording at 24/48 - I actually haven't even tried to record at 96 because, from what I've read, the difference is negligible (especially to the untrained ear) and I'm quite happy with 48. I also don't have a dedicated drive (right now) and don't have massive volumes of disk space available (that will change soon, however).

As far as getting it running efficiently - there are so many system tweaks that can be done. I got them from numerous sources including this board, audioforums.com, cubase.net, pcrecording.com, and midiman tech support. If you want I can try and find them and send you some links (I'd try and type them out - but the list is rather long!!!). let me know and I'll do this...

Now that I have my system 'tweaked', I want to be able to boot normally ('no tweaks') - is there any way of doing this without setting up dual-boot??? anyone??
