do you prefer insert or chain

I've got my Fatman working on the inserts of a ART Digital MPA-
it doesn't seem the compression is as prominent when its chained "after"
the ART.
Anyway -now I can utilize 8&9 digital channels on my Ark24.

Any preferences to insert or chaining?
