Do you like this flyer design?

my group plans on printing up 20,000 postcard sized glossy flyers. We all live in different places So its practical for each of us to distribute 5,000


anyway, if you were/are a hiphop fan, would this get you to check out our site

Some people may get the wrong idea about the "sick emcees" "disguting beats" on there. I know I would probly take it and be like whats this b.s and then throw it away. No offense though.
 
maybe make it less busy. take away some stuff, I saw the name right away which is good... but that's all I should have seen, the name and where to get it and the genre. and none of it really "caught my eye". but yeah. just my two cents.
 
I agree with grn, I aint into hip-hip, but from my previous flyer making toughts, I'd say take some of the text off, keep important info in bold, not so important smaller. When i first looked at it, i got a bang of text that confused me.

Keep it simple and in order is always the best way.
The left and right panell seem to the the same, so instead of having 2 of the same things and confusing people, take away say the right panell and put in a big logo. Just to make it more pleasing to the eye.

yeah, i think thats something that really will be attractive to the type of listeners that will appreciate our music. Its part of the underground hiphop dialect....basically how we speak about music thats on another level from the usual....

i dont plan on just going wherever there is a crowd and handing out fliers, but more at hiphop type events, and hangouts where there are alot of similar minded individuals who relate to the "sick emcees" etc slang...yeah, but i do understand someone else not understanding....but in all likelyhood, if they went to the site and listened, they wouldnt really understand the music either....

so its kinda targeted...

thanks for the input on that man....just wanted to kinda respond to why i feel differently on that particular point.

yeah, one thing i wanted to do was....add other stuff to not really immediately be able to absorb the flier at one glance. I want people to read the flyer and really look at it...


i also didnt want it to be obvious that the flyer was entirely about selling our album (which it isnt) i want people to come to the site, to listen to our music primarily and give it a chance, but also to join our forums, which will be pretty much a general hiphop discussion forum, a place to post and promote your own music, Producers discussion, a place to make connections with other people making music....and a newsboard.....so i wanted to make sure that they can come to our site, even if they just want an online community to go and chat about hiphop.


i feel that if i left it simple, it would be a "read in a single glance" and throw it away type deal...

but since this will be some thick postcard glossy flyers, i think people will actually take time to look at it before discarding it like some copy paper flyers.


haha, but basically, my idea is to avoid the fleeting glance, i want it read.
 
oh, and thanks for the feedback you guys!

i know i might not agree with all of it (because i had my purposes in what i encorporated into the flyer), but im not just purposely being closedminded because i think my flyer is perfect or anything.

i do really want some opinions. maybe i should post this in the rap forum too to see how they relate to it., but i thought it would be best posted here because it is a "promotion and marketing" tool.
 
I agree with what everyone else has said, but a few things to add:

There's way too many different fonts going on. I'd use 3 max. On a personal note, the font that's used for the "SLEPT ON FAM" part between the smiley faces has been so overused by everyone, and I cringe everytime I see it. But, that's just me :D

The other thing is that all the writing is basically the same size. It's hard to tell what the main thing you're trying to emphasize is. I know you want everyone to read everything, but people have short attention spans.

lol yall know whats funny, here everyone says its too busy...

but i posted it on the forums at a hiphop site, where its mostly people from my state, and everyone was saying, its too plain.....
