Tried it last summer.... didn't really like it. You folks are way cooler! :D

I hate the format. At a recent Cakewalk seminar in my area I asked why their reps don't frequent this and other forums and he told me to use the news group.

That aint gonna happen.

I frequent it, although not nearly as much as I do this forum.

I'm not very fond of the "e-mail" format they use, and it seems quite impersonal (maybe because I'm not on it enough). However, I do like the fact that Cakewalk employees monitor it.

I use it some. I too dislike the interface intensely. I much prefer a good web board like this to the newsgroup style interface, especially since it is a private newsgroup, not carried by other servers.

One other gripe I have is that the search function on the server doesn't seem to work. I have been able to do topic title searches by download ALL the blasted headers to my computer, but that is cumbersome, to say the least.

This is just my personal opinion, and this answer isn't going to be a black and white answer. I like the cakewalk NG especially the Sonar one. There are a lot of very smart people over there. I am not saying that there are not smart people over here. There are. Their NG is just another way of getting info and help. Why read just one forum or newsgroup. Half of solving problems is knowing how to reach people to ask questions.

However, I will agree that the interface sucks in that you have to download headers all of the time. It can get to the point where it really bogs down my Outlook Express when I try to exit Outlook. Also, it seems as if a web-based BBS can keep better track of responses to old posts. At that NG, you can forget about anyone reading a response to a post that is more than 2 or 3 weeks old. This format better addresses that issue.
