i have a guitar with single coil pickups and i love the sound and i'm not willing to replace them by humbuckers. it's a jazzmaster.

they are humming like hell when i play/record infront of my big fat screen. i was thinking about getting a nice TFT flat screen. do they cause any humming?

For a cheaper fix, you can just turn the monitor off while you're tracking. That's what I do...

that's what i do as well but i always liked the idea of TFTs.

they look great.

By the way, humbuckers create hum when playing in front of a computer. :)

i read a review of a tele replacement humbucker for hum cancellation and the user said that he can finally record infront of his monitor without any hum.

barden tele pickups?

pickup hum

The single coils will def. cause hum. It is worst when sitting in front of the monitor. With headphones on, move your self and your guitar until the humming stops. I find it is usually best about 90 degrees away from monitor. (Imagine the monitor is due "north" and position yourself "west" or "east."

Having the guitar too close to lights/lamps can also create hum during recording.

If mic'ing, make sure the mic is not too close to the computer or monitor. Mine is usually at least a few feet away.

You're sure you're talking about TFT monitors?

i asked a friend to put his ES 335 near his TFT screen.

and now guess what happened.

it started humming.
