I have a casio keyboard with midi out an in ports and a computer running fruity loops I am looking to connect the two now the way I understand it is that I can throw a cheap sound card in my box with a db15 port and get db15 to midi cable and I'll be set. I understand that this is no where near to the ideal set up but im on a limited budget and i'm really just trying to play around with FL and make something that sounds like music will this set up acomplish that?

Thanks in advance Nick

You would need the converter, which is joystick port to two midi, and the midi cable :) Then you are set for a cheapie midi controller :) Assuming your sound card supports that... what card is it?

Your computer probably already has a cheap soundcard -- or more likely a sound chip integrated into the motherboard -- almost all do these days.

Yes I do have integrated sound with a port on my mobo but it is a very cheap oem mobo so im not sure if i'd want to use the onboard or just throw one of the cheap sound cards I have lying around but either way thank you for the replies the mobo is a fic au31 with nforce2
