I really don't know the pro's & con's of using a pc for recording. I basicaly do recordings for my friends & family and just for fun. I have a ZOOMMRS1266 10 trk digital rec with cd burner & builtin drum machine. A Presonus blue tube pre amp / AT 3035 & SM57 mics. Event TR8 monitors and eventually I'd like to add a compressor. I mic acoustic guitar & elec bass. I'm sure in the future I'd like to get a little more professional. I just need info and advice on If it's needed and if so what kind of computer I need. Thank's in advance for any help.

Does that Zoom allow you to edit waveforms? In addition to waveform editing, you would gain an almost unlimited number of recording tracks, processing plugins (compressors, gates, fx, that are software programs as opposed to individual pieces of hardware), and freeware stuff. Another benefit is long term: a pc allows you to expand and update in the future as new technology becomes available. If your Zoom can interface with a pc, then you may get the best of both worlds.

However, if you are happy with your current setup and never have the need for more than 10 tracks, then I think buying a pc would be a waste of money.
