I've ordered the Presonus Firebox audio interface.

Do I need to upgrade my sound card? I don't have 24 bit sound card.

You just upgraded your soundcard by purchasing the Presonus.
It is a soundcard.

haha...this is funny...no offense, but you only need to use a soundcard if you need to with your interface. Your interface uses firewire, not a card.

It was a valid question.
Problem is ... the terminologies can be a bit confusing to beginners of computer based recording.
For most intents and purposes (specially here in Newbies) a computer audio interface with analog I/O and/or digital I/O .... be it PCI, FireWire, USB or PCMCIA .... is in essence a soundcard. Regardless of whether or not it looks like a "card" or how it connects to the computer. So long as it functions to route audio in and out of the computer.
"Audio Interface" sounds a lot cooler than "Soundcard" too.

Completely true! and make you sure you don't mistake the stock soundcard to even be slightly related to the PCI, Firewire or USB interfaces...

Home Recording for Musicians for Dummies

I read the book "Home Recording for Musicians for Dummies", 2nd ed., and have found out that I got a ways to go in learning the proper methods of recording.

It is a very good book from a newbie standpoint, although I wouldn't recommend trying to read the whole book at once.

If you want to get more in depth with the technical aspects of recording, check out "Modern Recording Techniques" by Huber and Runstein.

Also check out "The Mixing Engineer's Handbook" by Bobby Owsinski for some very practical mixing techniques, plus great interviews with top engineers on how they get their sound.
