New to pc recording . I just purchased sonar 2 xl,am purchasing a basic mackie dfx6 mixer,do i need to upgrade my computer to an echo mia or the like, from my original stock souncard on my sony vaio??Thanks

If you do upgrade your sound card, it will make a huge, huge difference. Chances are, your stock sound card is 16 bit , 2 ins, noisy, and has cheap-o converters. The Mia is 24 bit, 4 ins, much more quiet, and much higher quality converters.

If you're using a mixer it'll work either way, but I'd highly recommend upgrading the card.

If on a budget, and don't need too many bells and whistles, the Mia is a great little card. Simple to set up and it has some pretty unique virtual mappings in it's control panel. Not to mention SPDIF I/O and true ASIO support. I just bought one for $99 USD from a local Guitar Center for my live rig and a little BehringerMX802A from Musiciansfriend.com scratch n dent section (allthough in perfect condition!) for like $40 USD!!! So you know the deals can be had out there...

That's a killer price. I wonder if you could put 2 or 3 of them in a system together and get 8 or 12 ins at a time. That'd be incredible for the price.

Sure is a great price. I just checked 8th Street, and they're asking $175 for the Mia.
