Do I need preamps for this audiocard?

Hello all, I'm new here and am looking to pick up some gear to do a basic recording of my band. What I want to know is whether or not I could screw something up/clip the inputs on this soundcard

If I plug some relatively cheap dynamic mics (for toms and snare) in directly with a cable like this:

Or would I really need to buy a preamp like this:

Well, it looks like that card has 2 mic preamps in it, but the rest of the inputs are line level (not mic level) so, no, you cannot plug mics directly into the line inputs. A preamp of some sort would be required for using more than the 2 included preamps.
