I've a soundcard, record player and cd player with phono stereo outputs and a pair of speakers with phono or jack inputs. I'd like some unit that i can plug all the inputs in and at a flick of a switch change which comes through the speakers, rather than fiddling around unplugging and plugging in.

I don't think a patchbay is quite what im after, but i don't even know what to search for really.

Thanks for any help

Patchbay is good with lots of equipment, but in your situation, a DJ desk would probably do the trick.

Panda is right -
The circumstances & desire you describe won't be addressed with a patchbay.
Get yourself an AV selector and a stereo RCA Y to stereo mini 1/8" jack.
You'll be able to select which signal you want to go into your soundcard.
If you want to do it both ways - out to a variety of recording formats - you'll need 2.
I have a simple set up with a Stereo VHS, DVD player & CD player connected to an Amp & TV & it has a remote - all for $18.
You'll have to accept that it won't be ultra hi fi.

Do you have a receiver? What do you plug the speakers into? Cause that box might already be able to do what you want. The record player goes into the phono input, the CD into the CD (or aux) input, and route the soundcard through the tape send and return.

Clear thinking from MSHILARIOUs,
Yeah, a reciever or even a well set up stereo can do these things & run the line/aux out or tape send to the soundcard - which is what I do with an old amp, turntable & tape player for LP & cassette restoration.
Talk about complicating the issue.
I'm a dolt SORRY
& thanks MS.

Thanks very much for the replies, but...
I'm not sure what a receiver is :o
I only plug the speakers into whatever it is i want to play, (the phono cables disconnect to let the record player plug into the back) there's no central box thing. I don't want to have everything routed through the soundcard (if thats what the suggestion involves as i think it does) cos it's a usb affair and dont want to have to switch computer on just to play cd player.

Therefore AV selector may be best option??
