Do I have the hardware?

Hello.

I'm interested in going digital with my recording (I've been on a Tascam four track for a while now). I've got a lap top with plenty of power, but can I set up a lap top for recording? Has anyone seen this done?

the biggest drawback to using a notebook is the integrated soundcard which typically is not designed for any serious audio recording. however, there are external soundcards/recording interfaces that you can use with a laptop...there are pcmcia, usb and firewire cards available i think....i have a friend using a PIII 1Ghz notebook with a usb device...i personally haven't used any of these things, but i've come across them on the internet and in magazines....do a search for notebook/laptop recording on this BBS and on the internet and see what you come up with....good luck
