Was wondering what would be the best use for miking amps, singing into etc. I have the DMP3 but thinking of ridding of it to get the Mackie w/ the VLZPRO mic pres if they are good enought from what I heard. Help please! Thanks! Peter ><>

i think youd be wasting your money unless you need the extra channels.

work with what you have until you can move to a preamp that will somewhat improve your sound. such as an avalon or other high end pre.

most people want to hear the music your making not the quality of your preamp.. music comes from the inside not the outside

good luck!

I've heard several times on this Board that the DMP-3 pres are at least as good as the Mackies.

DMP3 pres are better, well lets say slightly warmer sounding pres. Better for vocals I think. Maybe not instruments.

I have become a collector of inexpensive preamps and in my continuing quest, I recently purchased a DMP3. I don't think you'd be taking a step up to get the VLZ's, except that you get a mixing board and 4 pre's in the deal. I think the DMP3 sounds better, plain and simple. Maybe not by a huge amount, but by a bit. I'd hang on to it if I were you.

JMarcomb speaks the truth about music too--Good point, J.

DMP3s are slightly quieter, and their response is more linear at higher gains. The mackies might have a slight edge in terms of headroom, though.

No, don't hang on to it. Sell it to me. I want to get another one.
