Next year ill be moving away up to school and i figure ill have some time alone in my room and i want to get into recording some material to keep me busy.

I am a little reluctant to spring for the 1010 (but i do like that i can put the interface in a rack), whereas i am unsure what i could do with the 44.

Space is kind of an issue and i think a small rack would consilidate some space. Is there anyway i could put the DMP3 preamp in a space as well? Id assume they are both close to half a space but the delta 44 looks pretty thin and the DMP3 looks kind of tall.

What does everyone else do with theirs? just let them sit on the desk?

I don't know.

Thanks,
Matt

The DMP3 is higher than 1HE. I don't have one myself but I've heard it can be mounted to a racktray. The Delta 44 breakout box is clearly smaller than 1/2 rack unit and I don't think it can be mounted.
Personally I'd say: Leave it all on your desk. It won't look pretty in a rack. Also remember that you'll somehow have to get the outputs of the DMP3 (on the back) connected to the Delta 44 inputs (on the front) so it won't look nice in any way.

The Delta 44 isn't much bigger than a large candy bar- about the size of two decks of cards placed nose to nose. A rack won't help you much with either unit. Just stack them atop each other, maybe on top of your computer tower or monitor.
