So obiously there is the VU meters on the DMP3, which is nice. What else is different?

-gain

-sound quality

-low cut filter

-anything else?

It seems that the DMP3 gets good reviews for the price, but what about the DMP2?

Thanks,

J

The biggest and most important difference is the dmp3's low gain / high gain option. What it amounts to is a glorified pad. The dmp2 has very low headroom, and it's easy to clip and distort with hotter mics and/or on louder sources. The dmp3's "pad" is very effective, expanding it's versatility to kick drum, loud guitar, etc.

By effectively being able to operate at optimal gains, the sound quality is improved in most instances.

Then there's the phantom power issue. :D The dmp3 has a all +48, while the dmp2 falls a little short. That helps, obviously, with power-hungry condensers in a lot of ways.
