hi folks.. just registered into this forum, hope I can get some helpful replies here!
I just bought an Alesis DM 5 e-drum kit, and was planning to use it as a midi controller to record midi drums in ProTools and Garageband. I tried connecting the DM 5'S midi out to my midi interface's midi in, an m-audio midisport 1x1. The midisport then connects to my Macbook via USB. I tried using the DM5 in Garageband, Garageband seems to detect the midi input device, but when I play the kit, nothing happens, and no midi signal is showing in Garageband either.
I would like to know how to configure everything, I'm sure I have to set something in the DM5 module itself, but I can't figure it out. Can anybody help?

Seems like you got it figured out... but just incase you have trouble next time, If youre trying to trigger a midi drumkit like whats built into your soundcard, I think you have to make sure youre using Midi channel 10.

Its been a long time since ive worked with midi.. but maybe that will help you if you have problems in the future.

you know, it's funny.. I didn't have to set the channels or anything for it to work the second time. All I remember was setting it to 'thru', and it worked. Probably 'cause I restarted everything. It's working fine now, thanks anyway!
