Hey Guys,
Hoping someone here can help me out with this. I have a DM3200 in my studio. I'm running Pro Tools with a 002R along with it. The Tascam is conntected to the 002R via ADAT I/O.

So here's my issue... last night I went to do a drum recording session. I have a Drum Recording Project already setup in the DM3200 which I use everytime I record drums. Everything seemed to be fine until I threw on the headphones... I'm getting some crazy digital noise coming through on my headphones. ?It dosn't come through on my ctrl room speakers, or anywhere else... just my headphones. My headphones amp is being fed by Aux 1 and 2 off the DM3200, which is sending to the Assignable Sends 1 and 2 off the back of the board. It's not the Headphones amp I'm using. I tried running a different audio source through it and it was fine. I also tried re-assigning Aux 3 and 4 to the Aissignable Sends 1 and 2 (same physical output) and it was fine! Brough up Aux 3 and 4 on all my mics, and no problems, clear as day through the head phones with no digital noise, but then when I change it back to Aux 1 and 2 feeding the Assignable Sends 1 and 2, the noise is back!... Anybody have a clue as to why I would all of the sudden have weird digital noise coming through on my Aux 1 and 2

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!!!
Cheers
J

I would say it's a digital earth loop between the headphone amp and the DM3200, are they plugged into the same power socket? If not try that first. You may have to lift the shield on the cables going to the headphone amp at the headphone amp end of the cable. And finally you may have to get one of these and connect it between the DM3200 and the head phone amp to isolate the signal through a line transformer.

I have had a similar problem in my studio between my Mx2424 / M3700 and the headphone amp, getting a whining noise in the headphones that I had to fix.

Alan.
