Hi everyone,

We send our Tascam DM24 for repair (synch clock problem), anyhow...when we received the console back from repair and lots $$$ later, suprisingly the LCD showed few lines on the display ( blue lines crossing the display horizontly ).
We called back the company who fixed it (and made that new problem appear) and they told us... "well, it was about to break.. and blablabla" and all the bs.

We tryed to open it (with all the precaution ) and check all the connection from the LCD to the board to see if there wasnt any loose connection to the board or things like that. We tryed to unplug and replug the white ribbon ( CN1 ) and check the other connectors but so far, no luck... the lines are still present on the display.

My question is: is there anyone who had the same issue ( fuzzy display with lines crossing the LCD ). Is there's any suggestions or is the only way to fix this is to change the LCD ??
I kinda guess that the answer will be the second option, but still... if you have any suggestions, feel free to reply :D

Thanks in adavance :)

LCD problems on the DM-24 are common.....lines through the display being the most common affliction. Backlights are known to burn out as well. I have replaced the lcd's on both of mine due to this issue + a SX-1 for a friend (they use the same display).

The lcd's used to be fairly reasonable in cost.....around $140.00, but I hear that Tascam raised the price of them to over $200.00. If you are skilled with tools and patient, you can replace them yourself.

hi Tascamwiz,

That was my plan to change the LCD on my own, i was wondering if there could be other reason why those LCD burn so easely. We found a LCD for around $150 in Montreal ( appears to be brand new ) and think i could replace it within 2 hours at the most, wich is way much cheaper than sending it to a ( tech ) that will charge 3 time the cost of the LCD to replace it :S

Thanks for your time ;)

HI Witzendoz,

sorry for the late reply... i was outside of town.
Yeah, i saw the thread...but it end up with no real solution. Some supplier have replacement for it but you have to order 50 or more...pieces, wich is nonsense. I keep looking around for replacement part that would be more affortable than original LCD from Tascam.... who knows, we might find something in a near future ( hopefully )

Thanks for the repy ;)
