Hello,
so, this is my first post - need to make a deep breath first ;-)
OK. I build up a homerecording "studio" (it's more or less a decent place in my living room - in the best sense of the word I am just a homerecorder...) where I use a Tascam DM3200 as mixer and DAW-controller, using the IF-FW/DMMK II FireWire-Interface. I once had a little 8-track analog mixer, but that's decades away, and was a complete other league...
I fought my way through the manual so far, and got things hooked up to my likes: I can control my DAW with the DM, and also have all my gear connected to it (guitar, bass, mic's).
What I couldn't figure out yet: I can record my signals to my DAW, but I'd like to have a) a bit more peace of choice, and b) do not want to waste the mixers EQ- and compressor-power.
So I'm looking for a setup allowing me to record my signals "dry", and with all the filters, compressors, fx... inserted to a specific mixing channel of the DM 3200.
At the moment I can only record "dry" signals, but my EQ and/or compressor settings seem to be only present in the mixer, but do not get recorded as well.
Simplified, I'm looking for a solution, allowing me to insert filters, etc. to a mixer channel and just to hear them (without having them recorded), and if need to do get them recorded (preferably without having to plug in to another channel) have a simple way of switching to "all-you-hear-is-recorded-to-disk".
I hope I could illustrate my aim in a comprehensive way - had a bit to struggle with my english
so thank you, anyway
kind regards

P.S.: Since I'm new to the mixer, any help with in-depth explanations of where to tweak/set up things will be very welcome!
