I am building a DJ machine for a friend of mine. I have gotten a recommendation from another forum (Sudhian) to build with the Delta 44. It would get the job done but it is a little pricey and the 2496 is a good deal cheaper.

Is the 44 worth getting if he will not be recording any music? He will just be DJing from it with normal songs played on a Mixing program. Thanks a lot.

Sorry if this is not enough information to help but I am not technincal at all with audio, though I am trying to get there, and I do not know what is pertenant information. Thanks a lot.

If he's not recording, then the only question is does he need more than 2 outputs. If not, then no need for the 44

Yeah if all he ever intends to do is playback in stereo, even a mobo with onboard sound may suffice.

I am not sure. He will be using multiuple speakers (4) but I dont know if they will be hooked directly to the computer. I assume that the signal will come out from the computer and into a reciver which will split the signal to the required speakers. Given either scenario...will he need more than one out?

And if he need only 1, should i build the com with the 2496 or shoudl i go for an even lower card like the revolution 7.1.

I personally feel onboard is a bad idea. I know that it can get crackly at high levels and this wil be used at fraternity parties and stuff like that. Thanks.

The 2496 should be fine. It only outputs a stereo line level signal, so it doesn't care how many speakers are at the end of the chain. Perhaps he could do a party with the built-in soundcard and see how it sounds? In a loud fraternity party, the difference might be neglible. Good luck!

Don't forget the headphones!!

Just a thought . . .

If its for a DJ rig then you will definitely need the 2 sets of stereo outputs of the Delta 44.

1 set is needed for the main speakers + you need another set so you can cue up the next track on the fones.

Hope that helps
