Hi Guys,

I have a page now for people wishing to learn to solder, or try their hands at a few DIY projects.
These are all things that are pretty simple to make.
The first page, how to make guitar cables, a few people have seen.
The second page is how to make Mic cables.
the third page is how to make a Headphone Breakout Box, so that you use XLR Microphone Cables for Headphone extensions.
These projects will all be things that I have built-as I built them; I can't assure that it will work, if i haven't built and tested them-so you're stuck with what I build! hahaha

I'll be adding things every once in awhile; like how to build an electric drum from a Remo Practice pad (My technique is a bit different-you'll see it when I'm done.
I'm testing the drum, just to make sure everything works right.
I'm also working on a version for an electric Kick drum. It's in the planning stages, and we'll see how it goes.
I like to play with electronics, and I'm a total advocate of DIY. With that in mind, have fun. ;)

Tim,

I checked out the cable soldering one a few days ago. Dig it! Thanks a lot and please keep it up. Is there anything special about making a snake (grounding the box???)or can I make one out of a shoebox? How about a theramin? I'm interested!!!!

Well, I haven't tried building a Theremin yet-but I've considered it. I've also wondered about the PAIA kits....

A Snake on the other hand I have done-and It's one of the few things to me that is worth buying.

The Cost wasn't worth the work involved.

There are two reasons for using a Metal case (Which you can buy from Markertek online).
1. It adds extra shielding.
2. Durability.

We made the snake box out of wood.
It looked nice, and was definitely recognizable!
But it just wasn't worth the work involved.
We also had to use clear rubber tubing on our Squid/Fan-out end.
This was about 10 years ago.
Now, it might be worth it if you're planning on setting up something like all ELCO/Multipin connections in your racks and everything, but as for just building a snake-I'd say buy.

One book that I highly suggest to everybody is Craig Anderton's Electronic Projects For Musicians; it's well worth the $22.00 bucks.
It has alot of neat things in it.
