I'll blatantly self-promote a series of articles, outlining my experiences of building a home studio on a budget.

In my first article, I try to summarize the best knowledge on acoustic treatment for hobby studios. In the second article, I unlock the secrets on expanding the Roland TD-11 entry-level electronic drum kit.

Acoustic treatment on a budget seems to be a combination of snake oil and black magic at first, and many resources on the internet are nothing more than best guesses and invalid statements. Don’t fall for the hype, look for the facts instead!

My articles on acoustic treatment are based on the following - and a lot more - resources. They all contain acoustic performance data for a variety of acoustic bass traps, acoustic panels or other acoustic material such as fibreglass wool or mineral wool.

I consider all of them to be of higher (if not excellent) quality than most other blog- or forum posts.

There is more to be found in the article itself.

Blatant yes...and maybe considered spam, if not for the valuable content.

The good part is the great information. Thanks flutte.

I sure hope to hear from you again. Like now. :)

Awesome articles! The last link is not working.

Had a question: I have seen a lot of people having regular acoustic foams. Do you think regular acoustic foam usually dull/more basy the sound since they only absorb the mid and high end and not much of the low end. I had some on my ceiling right under where I do vocals and my speakers. But the vocals NOW seem more bassy and boxy. So is there any benefit of using acoustic foams?
