Woahh this is starting to get way out my depth, but still interesting at the same time. Does it really matter if you choose to convert after bounce rather than convert during bounce in Pro Tools?

I've heard that it's better to do this after bounce since automation (and probably RTAS plugs) eats up CPU resources during the bounce.

yes, in some ways. converting during bounce takes less time but does so at the expense of plugin automation accuracy. Not to mention that it just taxes the overal system more so there is room for more errors. Convert after bounce does the opposite. Takes more time but offers highest level of plugin automation accuracy.

Nice one BC and MH, ive always converted after bounce, just because that was the default. I can wait the extra 20 secs or so it takes to convert after bounce, especially if it means better results, because at the end of the day thats what we are all after, isnt it.
