I've been using the version of LOGIC that came with my Hoontech C-Port. It doesn't have a native dither program. I downloaded the waves 3.2 trial version which is pretty slick, but I was a bit shocked at the price.

After a little experimentation, I don't think it will work for me anyway because as a plug in, it is only available as an insert in the LOGIC mixer. The mixers inserts are in the AUX return channels, and they are "post fader". So any signal sent to the AUX buss can be mixed back into the main buss with the desired amount of effects. However there is no way to prevent the original "dry signal from being sent to the MAIN buss simultaneously. So now the MAIN output of the mixer consists of a mix of the undithered and the dithered (through the L-1 insert) signal. Does that make sense?

I think I need a dithering program that processes the entire wave file like an editor or something. Any thoughts?

You need wavelab. But that price'll make you crap your pants too, so everybody is going to say "get soundforge", which is an ok program I suppose. I think you can snag it for $100. I'm not 100% sure that it dithers, but I'm 99.99% sure that it does.
