We're going with CD Baby to distribute our CD's online, but what about T-shirts, stickers, hats etc.? Are there any REPUTABLE companies that do what CD Baby does but with different merchandise? Thanks.

Do you already have the merchandise made, or are you looking for someone who will manufacture AND sell/distribute it for you? If you're looking for the second, there are certainly companies out there, cafeshops.com for example. Don't expect to make any money from them, however, because they tend to have high base charges for merch.

If you're having the merchandise made separately and just need a distributor, I don't know of anyone specifically who does that, though I'm sure they exist. Why not just pay your little brother or some neighborhood kid 10 bucks an hour to package and ship stuff? You can sell through your own website and just buy the shipping materials cheap online.

It works for me...

I've looked into cafeshop and was not impressed with their prices or the total lack of band profit. The problem with the little brother idea is that I personally would much rather send my money to a company with a reputation than some guy sitting at home who may or may not get the order right. We are having our merch made in bulk locally and plan to turn a profit....and yes, a distributor to stock and sell our merch (not manufacture it) is what we want. I've looked around and I haven't found anyone yet that does this....but I'm sure they're out there.

Hey, sounds to me like what you're looking for isn't so much a distributor but a fulfillment company. To my understanding, distributors are generally involved with marketing a product as well as making sure it gets where it needs to go. Maybe you're trying to get your merchandise into stores as well, in which case a distributor is what you want. But my guess is that you're band hasn't broken it that big yet, so you would have trouble getting much support from a large distributor. Though, that would be an option for the future.

Fulfillment companies are primarily concerned with delivery of goods or resources. I ran a basic search on google for fulfillment companies and had plenty of hits. I hope that helps.

Yo Drummer! Do a google search on ADA (Artists Development Associates) who operate CD Freedom. They do what CD baby does for a smaller cut, and they will happily do t-shirts, hats, etc.- Richie
